Giving Back
Recently, we were delighted to receive the following e-mail:
My name is Angel Bethke and I teach theatre at West Ridge Middle School in Austin, Texas. My 8th grade students perform a school-wide play each year and create a Community Service Project to go along with the theme of the play. This year we broke from the norm to support one of our own. While brainstorming different groups we could help one of our cast, Samantha Sweitzer, suggested your charity since you have been so supportive of her family and her brother, Sutton. We had no idea you even existed but after hearing Sutton’s story and those of the families on your website we knew we had to help you! The kids sold candy canes for $1 to their school mates this week and have raised nearly $700. We will be submitting a check to your organization as soon as the accounting is done on the administrative end. Thanks for the work you do and for allowing us to help families like the Sweitzers, who would otherwise be faced with insurmountable odds.
The West Ridge Drama Club (Eanes ISD) raised $654 to donate to the WCF! Thank you, Samantha, for supporting and raising awareness of the WCF, and thanks to Angel Bethke, the WRMS Drama Club, and the students of West Ridge Middle School for their generosity.
