| MEETING THE NEED
With the expert assistance of craniofacial surgeons around the globe, our own world-renowned Medical Advisory Board and the community leaders who serve on the WCF Board of Trustees, we have articulated major funding priorities as part of a Help, Hope & Healing $20 million campaign.
The campaign's objectives are designed to dramatically bolster WCF's infrastructure, strengthen and grow the number of well-trained craniofacial teams around the world and ultimately increase the number of children served by WCF and the quality of care they receive.
Craniofacial Surgical Centers - $10 million
A core objective of the campaign is to establish two new craniofacial specialty surgical centers in existing hospitals or Universities, one internationally and one in the U.S., to provide greater access to excellence of care for those with craniofacial abnormalities. These centers will be strategically located to allow us to serve larger numbers of children, to have access to the best equipment and surgeons and to build strong craniofacial teams through increased education and research.
Programs and New Initiatives - $5 million
Over the next three years, the campaign will give WCF the capacity to greatly expand its efforts to train qualified craniofacial specialists and serve the families and children affected by serious craniofacial abnormalities.
Craniofacial Care Teams - $1.5 million
Provide funding, medical and surgical equipment, research and training for multi-disciplinary teams that meet criteria recommended by the WCF Medical Advisory Board. Expand the current Surgeon Referral System by creating an International Craniofacial Registry comprised of data regarding surgeons and teams, patients, research outcomes and surgical centers.
Family Care Programs - $1 million
Serve as advocates for patients and their families by proving accommodations, transportation, equipment, medicine and other necessities. Facilitate access to surgery at WCF surgical centers as well as at WCF partnering organizations, to provide quality care to additional patients. Develop regional and international volunteer support structure to facilitate patient/family networking.
Education Programs - $1.5 million
Educate and train craniofacial team members through a series of customized programs, including such new and expanded programs as the Clinical Fellow's Program, a Medical School Internship Program, a Teaching/Visiting Professorship Program, and the Craniofacial Scholars Program. Develop an electronic clearinghouse of data for craniofacial teams, patients, families, insurance companies, government agencies, physicians in training and the general public.
Craniofacial Research Programs - $500,000
Facilitate and provide financial support for on-going craniofacial research projects, including the enhancement of the WCF Research Fellows program and creation of the WCF Research Prize in Craniofacial Surgery.
Organizational Sustainability - $500,000
Enhance the infrastructure of the WCF to allow for long-term sustainability, including increased staffing, adding technology and equipment and creating advisory councils and partnerships with industry and medical leaders.
