Education

The goal of the WCF Education program is to train craniofacial team members and ancillary staff through a series of customized programs, including the Clinical Fellows’ Program, Research Fellows’ Program, Traveling Professorship Program and Orthodontic Training.
WCF International Visiting Professor Program
The WCF International Visiting Professor Program (IVP) will immediately transform the lives of many children born with craniofacial and cleft abnormalities in the US and around the world. The IVP’s goal is to travel to each of the 10 WCF international partner centers, demonstrating craniofacial surgical procedures and techniques, teaching and mentoring craniofacial surgeons and team members.
Current Traveling Professor
Dr. Akira Yamada has been chosen as the WCF International Visiting Professor. He is an exceptional physician and one of the world’s foremost surgeons in the field of ear reconstruction and craniofacial and cleft surgery. Dr. Yamada was trained by the two of the leading surgeons in the world, Dr. Satoru Nagata (ear reconstruction) and Dr. Kenneth E. Salyer (craniofacial and cleft reconstruction).

Craig Hall International Fellowship
The applicant will have graduated from medical school and completed a 2-year plastic surgery residency program, i.e. board eligible in plastic surgery. This physician will travel internationally for one year to the WCF referral teams, observing, operating and learning from the leading craniofacial surgeons in the world. We are honored to recognize Craig’s legacy as an advocate of children who need long-term multiple surgical care.
World Craniofacial Foundation Clinical Fellowship
The applicant has graduated from medical school and completed a 2-year plastic surgery residency program, i.e. board eligible in plastic surgery and duly licensed by the State of Texas to practice institutional medicine. The program is located at Medical City Dallas Children’s Hospital.
World Craniofacial Foundation Research Fellowship
This program will provide financial support for ongoing craniofacial research and industry R&D projects.
International Orthodontic Fellowship
Based in India, these four 3-month specialty orthodontic training sessions aim to instruct orthodontist in the necessary treatments for cleft and craniofacial patients.
United States Orthodontic Fellowship
Based in the U.S., this one year of specialty orthodontic training teaches the necessities to treat cleft and craniofacial patients.
