Timothy – Jamaica
October 7, 2009 by admin
Age: 2 years old
Diagnosis: Sagittal craniosynostosis
Home: Jamaica
Timothy was diagnosed at one month with premature fusion of the sagittal skull suture, or sagittal craniosynostosis. His mother, fearing this might result in brain damage, sought out reconstructive surgery for Timothy. Unable to find a doctor in Jamaica willing to perform the surgery, she began to search for affordable treatment in the United States. Her faithful, persistent Internet research led her to the WCF and the Jorge Posada Foundation. The Posada Foundation funded Drs. Goodrich and Staffenberg’s March 2009 surgery on Timothy at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in Brooklyn, New York. The WCF has helped Timothy and his mother with travel expenses for surgery and follow up, as well as facilitated flights through American Airlines Miles for Kids in Need.
