Agatha was born with an encephalocele, or a protrusion of brain tissue through a congenital opening in the skull. After her birth, her father, who is a construction worker, and her mother stopped working to travel to Manila and seek treatment for her. At 18 months, she had a shunt implanted to relieve hydrocephalus, and in August 2009, Agatha underwent surgery to repair the encephalocele. Her parents are happy that Agatha will not have to endure rejection for her appearance and are please with her new look.
